My Journey as a photographer

I love photography. It is fun, creative, and it is a form of expression. The ability to take a snap of a photo and create something new was astonishing to me. I remember taking photos of nature and doing photo shoots for people. I remember using my editing skills to make the edited photo better than the raw photo. I remember the moment when I first picked up a camera. After that moment, I knew that I wanted to be a photographer. I knew that visual media was my passion. What I did not know was that picking up a Canon camera would lead me to create Wolf Wonders. Let me start from the beginning.

It was May 5, 2022. The day I graduate from Temple University. The moment that I begin the new phase of my life. For all my college graduates, you know that once you graduate from college, you are about to enter the “real world,” if you decided not to go back to school. For me I was going to go back to school at the time. You see… I wanted to go to med school. I studied and got my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I loved to, and still do, study the brain and people. As a kid, I was a quiet and observant person. I have encountered multiple personalities in my lifetime and each one has intrigued me for better or for worse. Long story short… people are interesting.

Anyways, as you can see, I decided not to go to medical school. 1. I am not going into more tuition debt than I need to. The average medical school debt is $250,000, so no thank you. 2. I did not want to waste 10-12 years of my life studying and doing something that I did not know if I wanted to do as a long-term career. 3. I am not good at science… no matter how hard I attempt it. 4. I hate science.

Anyway, I was not going to medical school. I was not going to graduate school. What do I do now?  I said to myself that since I love photography and have been doing it since 2019, why not become a freelancer photographer. Photographers make great money, and being a photographer can open different opportunities for me in the visual media industry. Come to find out, being a full-time, self-employed, photographer was not as simple as taking a couple of pictures. I needed a website, marketing team, sales skills, an organization system, etc… To sum that up, it was expensive to jumpstart my photography career. The worst part for me was setting the right pricing point for my service, so that I did not overcharge or undercharge for my services. What do I do next…

Eventually, a light bulb went off in my head. I realized that I am not the only photographer that is struggling to get their business/career off the ground. I realized that there are a lot of photographers with marketing needs, based on the number of people that I have communicated with. I realized that I could create a system that can take elevate visual media businesses to the next level based on various needs. As so…  Wolf Wonders was born. The innovation of visual media was created. An online marketplace that matches visual media businesses with their ideal customer. An online platform that can give every business a fair opportunity to succeed in a growing market. The legacy that I wanted to leave to the world. It was time to get to work.

Being a startup is still no gimme. What I decided to create was going to be even harder than just being a photographer. It was going to be more expensive. It was a more complex system that I was going to have to work on. I was up for the challenge. I had a strong why for creating Wolf Wonders. I have an opportunity to create a legacy for myself and I was not going to let it pass me.

As of writing this today, Wolf Wonders is a fully operated online marketplace with many beneficial features such as social media marketing and a place to network and connect with other visual media businesses. 

The moral of this story is that we all must start from somewhere. I started as a photographer and now I am the CEO of my own online marketplace. I struggled to build my brand, so I decided to build others. I could not afford to market myself, so I made it easier for other visual media businesses to market themselves. It may sound cliches but NEVER GIVE UP! You never know where this road will lead you next.
